Water ingress leaking into active area

Supertitle

What is hydro-insensitive water sealing?

In the UAE, construction often takes place in areas with high water tables, coastal reclamation, or aggressive Sabkha soils. When water breaches your defenses—whether through a sheet pile clutch, a cracked tunnel lining, or a leaking manhole—traditional cement grouts often wash away before they can set.

Geobear’s solution uses a specialized hydro-insensitive geopolymer. Unlike conventional materials, it is engineered to:

1

Displace water: It does not mix with groundwater; it pushes it out of the void.

2

Cure in seconds: The reaction time is tunable, allowing it to set almost instantly, even against high hydrostatic pressure.

3

Resist salinity: It is chemically inert and unaffected by the high salt content found in UAE groundwater and Sabkha soils.

Critical applications in the UAE

Deep excavations & shoring

Water leaking through secant piles or sheet piles washes fine sand into your excavation, causing settlement in neighboring towers or roads (ground loss). We inject resin behind the wall to create an instant "grout curtain" that seals the leak and densifies the loosened soil.

Utility shafts & manholes

Infiltration of groundwater into sewer networks overloads treatment plants and causes road subsidence. We seal manholes and pipe penetrations without excavation.

Tunnel & metro sealing

Groundwater ingress through tunnel joints or cracks corrodes reinforcement and damages electrical systems. We inject from inside the tunnel to fill the void behind the lining and seal the leak permanently.

Coastal defense & quays

Tidal action sucks fine material out from behind quay walls (piping), creating voids that threaten crane rails and promenades. Our resin seals the wall joints and binds the loose fill, stopping the erosion cycle.

What is the Geobear solution for water sealing?

Geobear uses a hydro-insensitive geopolymer resin specifically designed for wet environments. It can be injected directly into water-filled soils or leaking structures, where it expands rapidly to block the flow, seal the source, and strengthen surrounding ground. Our process is non-disruptive and often completed in hours or days, without excavation.

1
Diagnosis

Our engineers assess the flow rate, pressure, and soil conditions to select the correct resin formulation (e.g., high-expansion for large voids, low-viscosity for fine cracks).

2
Injection

We drill small-diameter holes through the structure (wall, lining, or pile). Injection lances are inserted directly into the leak path.

3
Reaction

The two-component geopolymer is injected. It reacts immediately, expanding to fill the void and displacing the water.

4
Verification

The leak stops instantly. We monitor back-pressure to ensure the void is fully sealed and the surrounding ground is re-compacted.

Why choose Geobear for water sealing?

Speed

We can seal a major leak in hours, not days.

Safety

No heavy plant or deep excavation required.

Durability

Our materials are resistant to sulfates, chlorides, and harsh chemical environments typical of UAE industrial zones.

Control

We can control the set time to ensure deep penetration or instant plugging, depending on the leak flow.

Case Studies

Our water sealing solutions can be applied to many different sites. Recent examples include:

Emergency water sealing

Rapid groundwater ingress flooded a deep excavation beneath Sheikh Zayed Road (E11), Dubai’s busiest highway. The water flow threatened to wash out the soil supporting the motorway and the adjacent Dubai Metro viaduct.

Shugborough tunnel infil

Tunnel shaft void filling

Hidden construction shafts and voids behind the lining of a critical rail tunnel posed a severe collapse risk.
