Benefits of Geobear void filling
Geobear’s geopolymer injection system provides a rapid, sustainable solution for filling voids and stabilising ground.
Minimal disruption
Our no-dig approach allows assets to remain operational while we work.
Pinpoint accuracy
Expanding resins fill every cavity and compact surrounding soils, ensuring complete fill and stabilisation.
Rapid results
Materials cure in minutes, enabling hand-back in hours.
Lower carbon footprint
Up to 75% less carbon than concrete-based alternatives.
The Geobear process
Detailed design
Every site is unique, so our engineers start with a detailed survey and design a detailed treatment plan tailored to your project. This will specify exactly where the geopolymer is to be injected and at what level and in what quantities. Geobear has a range of 22 different geopolymers which have differing performance characteristics, the engineers will choose the one which is best suited for your project.
Geopolymer injection
The geopolymer is installed via small diameter temporary steel tubes, which are drilled into the ground to the required depth. The geopolymer is injected in liquid form which then rapidly expands in-situ into a hardened material with specific engineering properties.
Expansion
The expansion fills the voids and compacts any loose materials which might be present. The reaction profile of the geopolymer is very quick in comparison to cementitious grouts, gaining 90% of its compressive strength within 15 minutes and then fully cured within 1 hour.
Monitoring
Throughout the process, we monitor movement and pressure in real time – ensuring precision, control, and reliable results. Specified performance can be measured via in situ penetration testing.
Case studies
Geobear has delivered urgent void filling and sinkhole remediation throughout the UK. Examples include:
Shugborough Tunnel shaft void filling
Geobear stabilised hidden construction shafts and tunnel lining voids at Shugborough Tunnel with geopolymer injection.
Protecting a listed sea wall in Swanage
Geobear filled voids behind Swanage’s Grade II listed sea wall with inert geopolymer resin. The solution reinstated ground support.
Ground strengthening and void filling on the M11
Geobear delivered rapid void filling solution beneath the M11 at Junction 14, avoiding collapse risk.
Challenges
Our void-filling solutions are designed to address urgent ground failures, including:
Slab settlement and cracking
Indicating loss of support beneath concrete.
Unstable ground
Depressions or cracks pointing to hidden voids.
Sinkhole formation
Visible holes or sudden collapse requiring immediate remediation.
Water erosion
Soil loss from poor drainage or flooding creating hidden cavities
