Challenge
Settlement and voiding beneath slabs at Monkey Island Estate caused differential movement and loss of support, requiring stabilisation without intrusive excavation within a sensitive environment.

High‑value property setting
Controlled re‑levelling in situ
No excavation or slab removal
Areas within Monkey Island Estate experienced settlement linked to void formation and weakened sub‑soils beneath ground‑bearing slabs. Differential movement led to uneven surfaces and concerns over long‑term structural performance.
Given the estate’s setting and constraints, a low‑impact remediation method was essential.
Traditional slab removal and reconstruction would have required extensive excavation, programme delays and disruption to the surrounding environment.
A precise solution was needed to restore support and achieve re‑levelling while protecting existing finishes and structures.
Geobear implemented a targeted geopolymer injection programme beneath the affected slab areas.
Small‑diameter injection points were drilled to introduce a two‑component geopolymer into voided and weak zones. As the material expanded, it filled voids, compacted loose soils and gently lifted the slab back toward level.
All injections were monitored in real time to ensure controlled lift and uniform stabilisation.
Slabs were successfully stabilised and re‑levelled without excavation or structural replacement.
The works were delivered efficiently within a sensitive estate environment, providing a durable and lower‑carbon alternative to traditional reconstruction.
