What is hydro-insensitive water sealing?
Unlike conventional materials that lose effectiveness in wet or submerged conditions, Geobear’s geopolymer is engineered to expand and react even in water-logged ground or flowing conditions. This makes it ideal for sealing leaks in or under sheet piled cofferdams, tunnels, culverts, manholes, and other infrastructure exposed to groundwater. Groundwater ingress and infiltration cause serious long-term risks for infrastructure assets, including:
Structural damage
Constant water flow washes away soils, creating voids and leading to settlement and possible collapse of sheet piled cofferdams.
Corrosion
Water accelerates the degradation of metal and concrete, reducing asset lifespan.
Operational disruption
Leaks into tunnels, culverts, or utility chambers interrupt services and create unsafe conditions.
High maintenance costs
Leaking assets demand frequent, costly patch repairs that don’t address the root cause.
What is the Geobear solution for water sealing?
Geobear uses a hydro-insensitive geopolymer resin specifically designed for wet environments. It can be injected directly into water-filled soils or leaking structures, where it expands rapidly to block the flow, seal the source, and strengthen surrounding ground. Our process is non-disruptive and often completed in hours or days, without excavation.

Site assessment and design
Our in-house engineers investigate the source and extent of ingress and design a solution.
Drilling
Small holes are drilled through the leaking structure or into the surrounding soils and stell tubes inserted.
Geopolymer injection
The geopolymer resin is injected directly into the leak path in accordance with the design.
Water sealing
The geopolymer is injected in liquid form which then rapidly expands in-situ into a hardened impermeable material with specific engineering properties. The expanded geopolymer fills any voids and compacts loose granular materials, thereby blocking the pathway for water to ingress causing washout, or flow into the sheet piled structure or excavation.
Benefits of Geobear solutions

Case Studies
Our water sealing solutions can be applied to many different sites. Recent examples include:
Cobbinshaw Reservoir water sealing
The reservoir had suffered water leaks from a discharge chamber following the installation of siphon pipes.
Shugborough Tunnel Lining
Geobear injected into voids behind the tunnel wall to prevent water ingress.
Cofferdam water sealing
A United Utilities site cofferdam required water sealing due to running sand and silt.
Ready to control water ingress?
Early intervention is important to prevent the water infiltration problems escalating and getting out of control to the point where serious damage and failure would occur. Geobear provides rapid emergency response with a non disruptive water sealing solution to stop the leaks at source
