Geobear was contacted by the homeowner of a residential property in Co. Donegal after cracking began appearing on walls and around window and door openings. Investigations identified inadequate foundations beneath the property, combined with poor drainage conditions, as the cause of the ongoing structural movement.

Geobear designed and implemented a bespoke geopolymer injection programme to stabilise the soils beneath the affected foundations. The treatment was carried out using a compact, self-contained injection unit operated by a two-person crew, eliminating the need for excavation or heavy machinery.
A total of eight injection points were installed to depths of approximately 2.1 metres below the underside of the foundations. Expanding geopolymer resin was injected into the weak soils, compacting and strengthening the ground to provide the structural support the original foundations lacked.
To verify the effectiveness of the treatment, Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) testing was undertaken before and after the injection works. The testing confirmed a measurable improvement in ground bearing capacity within the treatment zone.
The entire stabilisation programme was completed within a single day, with minimal disruption to the homeowner and no requirement for spoil removal, excavation, or reinstatement works.
